Meet DudeThatDraw
I’m Jarvis Howard, a proud Tunica, Mississippi native and first-generation college graduate from the University of Memphis (Class of 2019). Art’s been part of my story since elementary school-sketching on the back of tests, painting for fun, and eventually turning that passion into a full-blown purpose.
2017 was the year everything changed. That’s when I stepped into my calling and launched DudeThatDraw; a creative brand rooted in culture, hustle, and storytelling. What started with simple drawings evolved into bold murals, customized clothing, live painting events, and bringing color to communities that need it most.
What Inspired DudeThatDraw
When I was young, my two cousins who babysat me inspired me to start drawing; they used to draw just like I do now. However, I thought back then it was impossible to draw extremely well like they did.
When I was in the third grade I had a poster contest; I had got my cousin to draw on my poster and I won the contest but the judges disqualified me saying "this poster could've not been done by a third grader." Afterwards, I checked out library books everyday and promised myself I will learn how to draw and thats how I got here. I started painting and doing graphic design in 2017 it took about 2 years to master that craft, but been drawing all my life with tools like: pencils, markers, pens, & coloring pencils.
